Tour Overview
This Egypt New Year Trip runs twelve days through Cairo, a Nile Cruise and the Red Sea, closing with New Year’s Eve on the coast at Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh. Among the longer Egypt New Year Tours available, the route adds Saqqara, the full Nile Valley temple circuit, and several free days by the Red Sea to the standard Cairo-and-cruise combination.
Itinerary
Arrival at Cairo International Airport is met by a tour manager for the transfer to the hotel, with the evening left free ahead of twelve days of sightseeing and celebration.
The Giza Plateau opens the day, with the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. Saqqara follows after lunch, home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world’s first major stone structure.
Meals Included
The Egyptian Museum opens the day, with its collection of more than 120,000 ancient treasures, followed by the Hanging Church in Old Coptic Cairo and an afternoon at Khan El Khalili Bazaar.
Meals Included
A domestic flight carries travelers to Aswan to board the Nile Cruise. The Aswan High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk open the sightseeing, followed by a motorboat ride to Philae Temple.
Meals Included
The cruise sails north to Kom Ombo, Egypt’s only symmetrical double temple, dedicated to Sobek and Haroeris, before continuing to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, with its 36-meter pylons.
Meals Included
Luxor’s West Bank opens with the Valley of the Kings, including the tomb of Tutankhamun, followed by the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon.
Meals Included
Karnak Temple’s Great Hypostyle Hall opens the day, followed by the Temple of Luxor, connected by the Avenue of Sphinxes. Disembarkation and a transfer to Hurghada bring the Nile Cruise segment to a close.
Meals Included
A free day on the Red Sea coast offers diving, snorkeling, windsurfing or a visit to Giftun Island’s nature reserve, or simply time on the beach at the resort.
Meals Included
A further free day of diving, glass-bottom boat touring or parasailing leads into the evening’s gala dinner, festive entertainment and midnight countdown on the Hurghada coast.
Meals Included
The first day of the new year is left open for diving, snorkeling, a sunset sail, or time at Hurghada’s marina, markets and beachfront restaurants.
Meals Included
A domestic flight carries travelers back to Cairo, with the evening free for shopping, a farewell dinner, or simply reflecting on the trip so far.
