Tour Overview

This 10-day itinerary to tour Egypt moves through four distinct regions: Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Alexandria. The trip opens in Cairo with the Giza Plateau and Saqqara, continues into an Egypt Tour with Nile Cruise sailing between Luxor and Aswan, and closes with a day exploring Alexandria’s Mediterranean heritage before returning to Cairo for departure. Five nights in Cairo and four nights aboard the cruise ship give the itinerary a steady, unhurried pace across its ten days.

Itinerary

Landing in Egypt’s capital marks the start of this tour Egypt experience, with a tour manager on hand to welcome arriving travelers and manage a seamless transfer to the hotel. Check-in procedures are handled without delay, leaving the rest of the day free to relax, wander nearby streets, or take in a quiet view of the Nile. A light evening walk or an early taste of local cuisine sets the tone for the days ahead.

Breakfast opens a day built around the Giza Plateau, home to the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only remaining Ancient Wonder of the World, alongside the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure. The Sphinx and the Valley Temple follow, both resting places tied to Egypt’s greatest pharaohs. The afternoon continues at Saqqara’s Djoser Pyramid, the very first pyramid built in Egypt, before a meal of authentic local flavors closes the day.

A visit to the Egyptian Museum opens the day, with ancient artifacts and monuments tracing Egypt’s long civilization across its galleries. Lunch at a local restaurant precedes an afternoon in Old Coptic Cairo, centered on the Hanging Church, built above the Roman-era Babylon Fortress water gate in the 3rd century AD. The day closes with a stroll through Khan el Khalili, Cairo’s historic bazaar, ahead of departure for Luxor the next morning.

Breakfast, Lunch

Arrival in Luxor brings the Karnak Temple into view, one of the largest and oldest temple complexes in the world, its columns and hieroglyphs reflecting centuries of continuous construction. Luxor Temple follows, built by pharaohs including Amenhotep III, Tutankhamun, Horemheb, and Rameses II. This stretch of the Egypt Tour with Nile Cruise lets travelers explore both sites while settled into the comfort of the ship.

After a stop at the Colossi of Memnon, the ship sails toward Edfu for the evening, with full board meals served on deck.

This stop rounds out the Egypt Tour with Nile Cruise before the journey turns back toward Cairo.

Breakfast comes before the journey toward Alexandria, opening with the Catacombs of Kom el-Shokafa, a 2nd-century AD tomb complex blending Egyptian, Greek, and Roman design. Pompey’s Pillar follows, a towering monument dating to 297 AD, before a seafood lunch at a local restaurant. The day continues at the Citadel of Qaitbay, built in 1480 and said to incorporate stones from the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria.
